The first three provide an out-of-universe reason why you're likely to see Bright Wizards in Warhammer-license games, while the fourth is an in-universe reason why you'd be more likely to see a Bright Wizard on the battlefield than wizards from one of the other Colleges.

I think that's largely due to a combination of a few factors:ġ) People expect wizards to be throwing fire around, so any game on the Warhammer license is likely to be looking to have at least one wizard who throws fire around.Ģ) Most games on the Warhammer license involve the Empire, so that wizard is likely to be a Bright Wizard.ģ) Bright Wizards have a unique appearance.Ĥ) The Lore of Fire is one that has few applications outside of warfare (Metal and to a lesser extent Light has taken over most of the constructive aspects often associated with fire in settings where the magic system has a regular earth-air-fire-water elemental split) so Bright Wizards are much more likely to be Battle Wizards than other lores.

Although back in the day I didn't really like Gelt. Given the fact that wherever you look towards anything Empire related there's a Bright Wizard staring you down I think at the very least not having one be the Supreme Patriarch is refreshing. Mind you, I personally think that Gelt was a better fit for the Empire's themes overall, but YMMV. If Gelt wasn't a Gold Wizard, he probably would have lost. Gormann might well have been stronger than Gelt overall, but Gelt had a spell that effectively granted him just enough fire resistance for just long enough to win on a technicality. Honestly, from memory of the fluff piece of how Gelt beat Gormann for the title, it pretty much came across as a case of 'metal beats fire'. 2K A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia.844 A Total War Saga: Fall of the Samurai.
